Instagram has announced Instagram Live Rooms, a new way to go Live on Instagram with 3 guests.
With the introduction of Instagram Live Rooms, brands and creators can reach new audiences, increase sales and engage with their communities – all in real time. Here’s everything you need to know about Instagram’s latest update and ideas for how you can use it for your business;
What are Instagram Live Rooms or Live Room Feature?
Instagram Live Rooms allow you to live stream up to 3 people, doubling the number of people you can have in your streams.
According to Instagram, Instagram Live Rooms was a “highly requested update.” Previously, you could only go live on Instagram with a single guest. Instagram, which has made many updates in line with the needs of the pandemic period, actually refers to different applications such as live room feature and zoom.
Instagram also draws attention to the security measures it has implemented for this update:
- Users blocked by an attendee in the Instagram Live Room cannot join the Live stream.
- Users whose live access has been canceled due to Community Guidelines violations cannot join the Live Room
- Live Room owners will have the ability to block and report comments and apply comment filters.
- Instagram says Live Rooms will “soon be available to everyone worldwide.”
How to Create an Instagram Live Room?
It’s pretty similar to launching a live stream on Instagram. Here’s how to do this:
- Step 2: Open the Instagram Stories camera and swipe to the “Live” mode icon.
- Step 2: Next, add a caption for your Instagram Live Room. To do this, click on the “Left Aligned” icon on the left side of the screen. Your title lets viewers know what your Live Room is about and what they can expect.
- Step 1: Tap the “Live” icon to start your broadcast and make sure you have a reliable Internet connection. Give viewers time to join the broadcast, so spend the first few minutes having short conversations and saying hello to everyone.
- Step 2: Tap the “Video” icon to add guests to your Instagram Live Room. Here you will be able to send requests for invitees to join. You will also see people who want to live with you.
TIP: You can add an element of surprise by adding all your guests to the live stream, simultaneously or individually!
6 Creative Ways to Use Instagram Live Rooms
Well, the question of what is the use of Instagram live rooms is one of the most frequently asked questions. Instagram Live Rooms open up new opportunities for collaboration and creativity.
In a press release, Instagram hinted at just some of the possible ways brands and creators could use the new feature: “Start a talk show, host a jam session or get creative with other artists, host more engaging Q&As or tutorials with your followers, or just more hang with your friend. “
With that in mind, here are 6 creative ways to use Instagram Live Rooms:
1: Product Demos
Visual content, especially video, is key to promoting and selling your products.
A research report shows that 84% of people are convinced to buy a product or service by watching a brand’s video. Instagram Live Rooms are a great way to show you how your products work – whether it’s a “Get Ready With Me” session where creators discuss your skincare products, or a tutorial led by members of your product team.
With the Instagram Live Shopping feature, viewers can purchase featured products during a broadcast; this creates a streamlined way for brands and creators to sell in the app.
2: Panel Talks and Q&A
Instagram Live Rooms are great for holding panels, Q&A or webinars instead of sending viewers to another hosting site.
You can even create recurring monthly chats with new guests or hold weekly panel discussions revolving around a variety of topics.
For the launch of Instagram Live Rooms, Instagram announced a new Live Room every day – from the #StopAsianHate fundraiser to a discussion about wellness with LGBTQ+ creators. Instagram President Adam Mosseri held a Live Room with Lonnie Marts IIV, Young Ezee and Ling.KT to discuss tips for growth on the platform. Panels give you the opportunity to educate your community, benefit from your guests’ audiences, and can help you take the pressure off of being live alone.
TIP: You don’t need an influencer marketing budget to secure great guests – instead of working with creators (and celebrities) with millions of followers, leverage nano or micro influencers.
3: Live Performances
Live performances were popular on Instagram Live last year – whether it’s the record-breaking Verzuz battles or singers like Coldplay’s Chris Martin playing mini-concerts, they’ve all gotten a lot of attention. Hosting an Instagram Live Room with a variety of creatives can increase engagement and reach and create an intimate atmosphere, albeit virtual, as viewers can watch a concert or a short play from the comfort of their home.
It also adds a level of inclusivity – viewers from all over the world can call you, no purchases required.
4: Audience Feedback Sessions
Instagram Live Rooms give you the opportunity to hear directly from your community – what do they like about your products? What type of content do they want you to create? What questions do they have about your new release?
Getting feedback from your audience will help you learn what your customers really want.
You can invite up to 3 customers who frequently share user-generated content on Instagram to join your Live Room. This shows that you value your community’s opinions and are aware of how much they stand up for your brand.
This is a great way to learn about your community and their pain points, and can increase brand loyalty the way they feel heard.
5: Interactive Classes
With many gyms and studios closed, Instagram Live Rooms can be great for hosting interactive classes.
Last March, retail brand Revolve created #RevolveAroundTheHouse, a series of Instagram Live sessions hosted by a variety of creators and fitness experts. With Instagram Live Rooms, you can have up to 4 different hosts, each leading a section of a class with their own area of expertise.
And that works for just about any industry. Art classes, cooking sessions, jewelry making, food and wine tasting – the opportunities are endless! Fortunately, Instagram Live Rooms will work in a similar way when viewers are given the ability to purchase a badge for hosts.
That way, creators can post interactive lessons, whether it’s sports or cooking classes, and make money as they go.
6: Interactive Giveaways or Tests
If you give gifts on Instagram often, you can take it a step further by adding a live element to it.
You can collaborate with other brands or creators to create an Instagram Live Room where 2 or 3 lucky customers get a chance to answer questions for a chance to win a prize.
Everyone loves game shows and quizzes.
You can take advantage of the competitiveness of your customers while having fun with Instagram Live Rooms.
Live streams are already a great tool to increase engagement.
With the introduction of Instagram Live Rooms, users can be even more creative when they go live.
